Newborn Welcome Guide
Welcome! These early days are filled with little moments you’ll want to remember. This guide will help you feel prepared for a gentle, unhurried photography experience with your new baby.

Every newborn session allows plenty of time for feeding, changing, settling, and cuddles. There is no need to rush—your baby sets the pace.
GETTING READY
Dress baby in comfortable zip-up or button-up pajamas that are easy to remove. Please avoid tight clothing or anything that needs to be pulled over baby’s head when possible.
Follow your baby’s usual feeding routine and let me know when they last ate when you arrive. There is plenty of time to feed, change, settle, and comfort your baby throughout the session.
Sleeping and awake moments can both be beautiful. There is no expectation that your baby sleep for the entire session, we’ll simply follow their lead.
WHAT TO BRING
Diapers, wipes, and a spare outfit for baby.
Feeding supplies and extra bottles, if used.
If you are nursing or pumping, please bring any supplies you may need to stay comfortable during the session.
A pacifier, if your baby uses one.
Any sentimental item we have discussed in advance.
Coordinated clothing for family portraits, if included in your collection.
A change of clothing for yourself, if desired—newborn sessions sometimes come with unexpected little messes.
IN THE STUDIO
My studio is an intimate, comfortable space designed to keep newborn sessions calm and relaxed. Parents are welcome to settle in and rest while I work.
Your baby’s comfort and safety always come first. We take breaks whenever needed and work gently rather than rushing through poses.
The studio may be kept warmer than usual during portions of the session to help keep baby comfortable, so I recommend dressing in layers.
PARENTS & SIBLINGS
Parent and sibling photographs are included with the Our Growing Family collection.
Choose simple, coordinated clothing in complementary colors rather than matching everyone exactly. Soft neutrals and subtle textures photograph beautifully. Avoid very small checks, pinstripes, large logos, or distracting graphics. You’re always welcome to send outfit photographs to me beforehand if you would like help coordinating everyone.
Family and sibling photographs are taken first. When possible, please arrange for another adult to take young siblings home afterward so the remainder of the session can stay quiet and focused on baby.
Sibling poses depend on each child’s age, comfort, and willingness to participate. I’ll guide you throughout the session and ask for your help when needed.
Newborn safety comes first
Every baby is different, and not every pose is appropriate or comfortable for every newborn. I will always prioritize your baby’s comfort and safety over achieving a particular pose.
Some finished photographs may be created using careful posing techniques or image compositing when needed for safety. If your baby shows signs of discomfort or simply prefers another position, we will adjust and continue with poses that work naturally for them.
Choose a Style You Love
Soft and light, or rich and moody? Both approaches are part of my newborn photography. These examples can help you decide which feeling you’re most drawn to.
Share your preference with me before your session. Your gallery may include a mixture of both styles, with extra attention given to the look you love most.
